  2. Take 300 gm kolhapuri jaggery
  3. Prepare 1 Tbsp ghee
  4. Take 1/4 tsp baking soda

Chikki is a traditional Indian sweet candy made with jaggery and peanuts or sesame seeds. It is one of the most loved sweet snack across India. Like most kids, mine too love peanut chikki. During our every visit to India either my mom or MIL makes these as my kids love them.

Instructions to make Peanut Groundnut Chikki:
  1. Roast groundnuts on medium heat and let them cool. Remove skin and keep it aside.
  2. Grate jaggery and put it in a non-stick pan on medium to low heat. When it melts completely, add ghee to it and mix it well. Keep on stirring continuously until it gets light and it changes colour.
  3. When jaggery changes colour, add a drop of it in a bowl of water to check if it is ready to put peanuts inside. If the droplet of jaggery can be broken easily by biting it, jaggery is ready. Now add baking soda to it and give it a good mix.
  4. Now add roasted peanuts to it. Mix everything well and turn off the heat.
  5. Add the chikki mixture to the baking tin and spread it evenly. Now take it out on a greased surface and roll it thin with the help of a greased rolling pin. Cut it into desired shape and let it cool completely. Then break into pieces and store it in an airtight container.
