The ingredients needed to make Bathua ki daal:
  1. Prepare 1 cup Bathua leaves(chenopodium leaves) fresh
  2. Get 1 cup Pulse (any kinds of)
  3. Prepare 1 chopped tomato
  4. Make ready 2-3 green chillies, chopped
  5. Take 4-5 Garlic chopped
  6. Make ready 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  7. Get As per taste Salt
  8. Get 1 1/2 cup Water

The base is earthy with bathua and chana dal that makes this sagpaita a very uniquely flavoured daal. You can cook this daal with arhar (toor or pigeon peas) ki daal as well. Bathua is loaded with essential minerals and antioxidants. It is a powerhouse of Vitamin A, C.

Steps to make Bathua ki daal:
  1. Wash pulse and soak it for 5mints.bathua leaves wash very clean and chopped it. In a cooker add washed pulse, bathua leaves, garlic, green chilli, salt, turmeric powder, tomato, and water. Then cover/tightly lid it and cook for 2 whistles. In a pan cook it for 45-50 mints.
  2. After that open cover and mash pulse well by hand masher. Then stir and cook for 1mint. (At this stage can add ½ teaspoon ghee it's optional) off the flame and serve it hot with rice or lunchtime. It's very good for health.

Bathua is loaded with essential minerals and antioxidants. It is a powerhouse of Vitamin A, C. Daal sagah(bathua ka saag with Chana daal) #sabzi Easy & Special dish for winter season. Shakpaita is mostly eaten with Makke ki roti, Bajre ki roti or Missi roti etc. You can use your favourite dal and vegetable to make Shakpaita, like urad dal, moong dal, arhar dal, masoor dal, and chana dal.
